Calculation of the defence dice: Roll Defence Dice ... A tank can never roll more than six Defence dice. Attacking tank has 2 movement marker. Attacking tank is in short range. Defending tank has 3 movement marker. Defending tank has defence 2. Defending tank has cover. Defence Dice: 2 -1 +3 +2 +1 = 7 (= 6 defence dice) Or: Defence Dice: 2 +3 +2 +1 = 8 = 6 And then -1 for Short Range = 5 defence dice. Edited by user Thursday, June 9, 2016 6:00:45 PM(UTC)

That was asked in our club too.
We all come agree that common sense is too add and substract all modificators and then reduce to 6 if the number of dices is more than 6.
So ur first option will be the way to go. ;)

Id go with the first too, apply ALL modifiers before cutting to 6 max.

I would go
Defence Value of Tank + Defenders Move + Attackers Move + Cover - Range Which should still come out as 6 because you cant have the 7 it totals.
