I was thinking about more of a city fight. Be able to put buildings adjacent to each other or make larger constructs to represent factories. Instead of driving round, give a tank the option to batter through a building like the war films show with bricks flying all around. However, this comes at a potential cost. The tank must move forward to go through the building and have enough movement to get the armament clear of the building (not in cover), i.e. assault gun must have the front of the hull in the open or a turreted tank must have the centre of the turret clear. When the tank goes through the wall then roll a die. 1. Nothing happens, good or bad 2. +3I (Here's.......Johnny!) 3. +1I (Well well, look who's here!) 4. Stunned Crew Critical 5. Busted Tracks Critical 6. Suffer Damaged Optics Critical This was just a thought while I passed the time walking my dog. Opinions welcomed. I like the idea. Especially how there are good and bad consequences to doing it. Also about the gun / turret placement to shoot.

Not really a historical thing in combat as the chances of something going wrong are fairly high and the consequences catastrophic. Hollywood aside tanks have to be a bit careful around any sort of obstacle - a brick in the turret race could be disastrous, or even just jarring the sights out of alignment or blocking view ports takes the tank out of action, and a thrown track in combat in a built up area is a free kill to the opposition.
On a related topic some Churchills fighting in the Reichswald had their turrets actually lifted off the turret race and jammed by branches of trees that they were pushing through, and the Germans were forever losing skirts to terrain in streets and similar.

I take your point about not being a historical thing but this is more of an arcade game than a simulation as we know and I did try to provide the bad things which you also mention in your post.
I was just trying to think of ways to add variety to our (hate this phrase, beer and pretzels) games without resorting to adding infantry . AT guns, planes etc. |

Why not do tank ramming, as well?
"In the movement phase, declare a ramming maneuver. Measure up to your remaining movement arrows to a tank (obeying impassible terrain rules), then place your tank adjacent to the target, and roll that many dice. Successes deal 1 point of damage each to the target, failures deal damage to the attacker. Like mines, you do not defend against this damage, nor does it deal crits. If you can not reach your target with your remaining movement, the attempt fails and no dice are rolled."

Partly because it seems to me that even though you could inflict damage on your opponent it would follow that you would damage your own unit as well. Plus to me it is like a final act of desperation or an accident. Why would I ram you if I could just shoot?

You can always do both. Turns are simultaneous and all that.
