Hey guys. Im sure there are plenty of you that play both Tanks and Flames of war. We are experienced gamers and would like to know how complicated Flames of War is. We enjoy Tanks but would love battles of 10 or more tanks with troops on the ground like FOW. I have heard that it is very complicated and slow. Is there a place I can download the rules for it? What are your thoughts?

From what ive seen its similar to games of warhammer 40k. Rules are roughly in that region too.

If you play Flames of War with only about 10 tanks each, it's not that complicated. What's complicated is all the extra rules for each diffrent troop type. like infantry, artillery and recon etc. But if you and a friend agrees to play simple games using a small armoured company each, that should work out perfectly fine I think.

Open Fire was supposed to be a more simple and introductory step into Flames of War. You might want to check that out first. You can download the rules from the Flames of War website. Full disclosure; I personally have not played Open Fire; but, I have seen it played and it seems pretty simple.

Start with a a small game like 500 points only one arm (tanks, infantry) get used to it and try another 500 points with the other arm . Then when you feel confortable with the rules begin add at and artillary.
It looks harder toassimilate than it is , just go easy and enjoy yourself!
