Tanks has started a new way to wargame

I love game tanks. Compared to most wargames its quick, easy and cheaper. Got me thinking though, could do other games with same principles but other themes, like Planes or Battleships. Maybe even sci fi or other stuff, Mad Max style vehicular warfare. Hope your reading this GF9 executives!

Wizards of the Coast did for years. First with the Axis and Allies Miniatures (land) game that started at 10mm (ish) then converted to 15mm using prepainted minis. Then they had the Naval Miniatures (commonly called War at Sea) which had 1/1800 pre-painted minis. Then there was the Air Force Miniatures that are 1/100 scale (15mm) and are also pre-painted minis. I have all 3 games in abundance. The air game especially is similar to TANKS. Pick a few planes to get you to 100 points, then dogfight on a hex map with a simple but effective (and flavourful) ruleset. There's a great fan forum called Forumini that has been around of years. All 3 games are now several years out of production.
