Hi all,

we did run some test games using the rules and few information (damage deck, etc.) that were available.

We did use the following damage deck (using a D6):
1. Direct Hit (self made - no special effect, but 2 Damage)
2. Bailed Out
3. Damaged Engine
4. Busted Tracks
5. Injured Crew
6. Reroll for Critical Damage

In contrast to the setup in the TANK-rules we did use the setup in the Flames-of-War-pdf that can downloaded here: www.flamesofwar.com/Port...arkmann's-Corner.pdf

In addition we did adopt some of the bocage rules that can be downloaded here: www.flamesofwar.com/Port...s/D-Day-Bocage-Rules.pdf

We did use the following rules:
Crossing Bocage
Tanks can cross bocage. (There are no very difficult going or bogging tests in TANKS)

In addition, the hedgerows are so overgrown that teams must
start their movement adjacent to a bocage hedgerow to cross it,
and must stop their movement on reaching a bocage hedgerow.

Teams cannot end a Step sitting on a bocage hedgerow. They
must be on one side or the other and clearly either adjacent to
the hedgerow or back from it.

Seeing Through Bocage
Since Bocage hedgerows are taller than any tank, only teams
adjacent to a Bocage hedgerow can see or be seen through it.
Bocage hedgerows provide Concealment for any team seen
through them, except by a team that is itself adjacent to the
same hedgerow. Even the gates tend to be overgrown and block
visibility in the same manner as the hedgerow.

A team adjacent to a bocage hedgerow can see anything on the
other side of the hedgerow, even if the enemy are adjacent to the
same hedgerow further along it. A team adjacent to the intersection
of two hedgerows can see across either of them as well as
across the intersection into the field diagonally across from itself.

Shooting Over bocage
Any team can shoot through a distant bocage hedgerow at a
team adjacent to that hedgerow, or shoot through Bocage hedgerows
they are adjacent to.

Additionally the roads were treated as narrow lanes
Narrow Lanes
A team in a narrow lane is considered to be adjacent to the
hedgerows on both sides of the road.
A team cannot shoot past another friendly team down a narrow
lane. A vehicle in a narrow lane can only fire hull-mounted
weapons at targets on the same road or adjacent to the hedges
bounding the road.
Vehicles must face along a narrow bocage lane and cannot turn
their hull to the side without crossing the hedgerow into the
adjacent field.

Stay tuned for the setup, Barkmann itself, the Shermans and the first battle report.

Game 1
Turn 1
Three Sherman tanks approaching on the narrow road.
Barkmann stops in cover with his Panther tank.
Barkmann shoots at the first Sherman and scores 3 hits.
The counterattack of the first Sherman cause 3 hits and a crit (Damaged Engine) for the Panther. The German tank has only one hullpoint left.

Turn2
The Sherman tanks go on.
Barkmann remains in cover.
Barkmann shoots at the first Sherman and scores again 3 hits. The leading Sherman is destroyed.
Even it is destroyed the first Sherman shoots back but scores one hit only. Barkmann saves that hit.

Turn3
Due to the road is blocked by the destroyed Sherman the other tanks drive on the left and right of the road into the bocage.
Barkmann remains in cover.
Barkmann shoots at the second Sherman and scores 3 hits and a crit => the hits are saved by the Sherman. But the crit is Bailed Out.
Second Sherman cannot shoot (bailed out crew).
Third Sherman has no Line of Sight to the Panther.
But the crew of the second Sherman get back in their tank. (repair successful)

Turn4
The Sherman tanks go on.
Barkmann remains in cover.
Barkmann shoots at the second Sherman and scores one hit and 3 crits. The Sherman saves a hit and a crit. The remaining crits will be Busted Tracks and again Bailed Out.
Again the Shermans cannot shoot back.
Unfortunately the crew of the second Sherman is still bailed out. (missed the roll)

Turn 5
The third Sherman tank goes into shooting position.
Barkmann goes near the bocage to shoot at the third Sherman.
Barkmann shoots at the third Sherman and scores two hits. The Sherman saves a hit.
The third Sherman shoots at the Panther and scores one hit only. But the Panther do not save the hit and is destroyed.
Victory for the Americans.

Battlereport 2 will follow

Going to need to get me some bocage, what is that you're using. Think the woodland rules cover most things here, slight tweaking needed so tanks touch the bocage to be in cover rather than be in. Just think of them as very narrow woods.

Looks like you're set up for a fun game!
This is a great example of how you can bend the terrain setup rules to fit a particular scenario. A bunch of us staff played a 5-player game over the weekend and did something very similar. Simply placing terrain in an interesting way and then going for it!

Funnily enough, your 'Direct Hit' critical damage card matches up with the 'Lucky Hit' damage card that IS in the critical damage deck.

I did use two bocage sets from GF9. But there was not enough for the table. Therefore I did use Italian Vineyards and fences as well as walls (all from GF9) as bocage. In addition I did use some selfmade terrain. The rural roads and the house are from GF9 (Battlefield in a box), too.

You are right, the woodland rules could work for bocage as narrow wood. I'll try next time if there is a great difference.

@Sean
It was a funny game. We will play another game using the same setup.
"Lucky Hit" - great, another critical damage is leaked. And I won a bet.

@Suggestion in general
Moving through woods is possible but limited to one measuring arrow. To rush through the woods seems wrong to me.

Dice rolls can be complicated. One bad (defense) roll and your Panther is scrap. Hope there will be cards, that will improve the dice rolls.
