Happy Holidays from us at TANKS

It’s been a great year for TANKS, we went from Europe to the desert with loads of cool tanks to add to our platoons. I love my Tiger tanks! Next year is shaping up to be even better. We still have some fighting do to in Africa but we will also be moving to the Eastern front.

Happy Holidays!

It’s been a great year for TANKS, we went from Europe to the desert with loads of cool tanks to add to our platoons. I love my Tiger tanks! Next year is shaping up to be even better. We still have some fighting do to in Africa but we will also be moving to the Eastern front.

The Italians are coming! Next year look out for the release of the Italians in TANKS! The Italians will be getting two tanks, both cheap in points and easy to form deadly tank swarms! With their release we will also be adding allied cards that allow both German and Italian tanks to mix in the same platoon.

The British are not done yet next Year we will see Valentine and Churchill tanks. The Valentines will be interesting medium tanks with a lot of hit points. The Churchill tanks will come in two releases, the Africa release will have the normal Churchill tanks and the Churchill CS that will have the Artillery rules. The Churchill tanks bring heavy armour to the British armies with Defence of 2 and tons of hit points.  Later in the year we will be releasing the Churchill’s that show up later in the war.

Along with cool new tanks we have some new Organized Play Seasons for you to play, fight next the large desert forts then we go to the eastern front. We have loads of cool things instore  for next year and we can’t wait to share them with all of you.

Thanks for playing TANKS with us!

US Desert Tanks Part 2

This week we take a closer look at the next two tanks for American in the desert, the Lee and the Priest. Both tanks are quite interesting and will give the American players some exciting new options for their platoons.

Lee

The Lee tank is a cheap medium tank option for the Americans. Its Hull Gun rule makes it incredibly flexible giving you to gain an extra attack dice if you fire as an Assault Gun.  You also have the option to up-gun you Lee to get a large spike to your initiative during the shooting step.
Lee tanks can be deadly in mass with up to seven in one list, leaving you two points to add an upgrade or two.

Priest

With the Priest, the Americans gain access to a tank with Artillery for the first time. Like all tanks with Artillery, the Priest likes to hide at the back of the table and use observers to range in their attacks on targets that think they are safe. With no Defence dice and four Damage capacity, you do not want this tank in the front lines though running eight Priests could be a fun swarm list.

One of the more interesting upgrades to come out with this wave is Wet Ammo Storage. This upgrade can protect you from the scariest card in the damage deck, the Ammo Explosion card. Being able to exchange the scariest Critical card for another is well worth one point, even if Ammo explosion is rare.

British Grant Tank Expansion

The four new American tanks give players some cool new options for their platoons. Americans now have access to cheap tank options along with the first US tanks with the Fast and Artillery rules. These new tanks really open up the possibilities for new and interesting platoons.

For my American platoon, I plan on adding some Stuarts and Priests along with my Super Pershing to up my tank count and give me more things that can contest objectives as my Super Pershing destroys everything it sees.  It will be interesting to see what cool platoons the community will create as these new tanks enter the meta.

TANKS at STGCC

Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention was a good show all in all. 2 days, 45,000 visitors. A chance to expose the game and hobby to new people in the local market. We were hoping to do 75 demos over both days. We managed to do 300 over demos in that time period.

We had a 27 Square metre booth to ourselves that really made a splash in the market. We had the largest booth in the tabletop gaming area which was great since it was about brand awareness and we wanted to be on the map.

Build a Tank Workshop

We had a workshop to allow non-gamers and people to come and build a free tank. Just to experience it. They had to sit through a demo and that was it, one free tank with guidance and glue to put them together.

We conducted "Build a Tank" workshops for free, all you had to do is like our FB page or complete a demo to receive a free BF tank.Builders could choose to make a M4A3 Sherman or a Tiger tank. It was all cut for them ahead of time and they just had to follow the instructions of our helpers to get a great looking tank.

This Captain America might have been too small to win the war for us, but he was doing what he can to help the war effort. Optimus Prime over there didn’t maintain his neutrality in world conflicts.

TANKS Tournament

With so many demos running, we decided to have a tournament to show how easy it was for people to learn how to play TANKS. On Sunday we started having demos at 10 AM. By 1130, we had convinced 8 people to sign up for a tournament. All of them had learned the game less than 2 hours ago and they were about to join a tournament for some amazing prizes. (a starter set and 4 tanks from the latest wave of TANKS.

The 8 contenders for the tournament. All Newbies and not experienced at TANKS. The format was kept simple at elimination with 3 rounds to get us our winner.

After two quick rounds, we had our finals in the store booth itself which was live telecast via Facebook live and screened on an LCD TV for the passing crowds to watch.

The final round with a twist to the game was a mirror match, both players used a Panther and Ernst Barkman crew card. In the First round, the Champion, Desmond Yeo fired with Barkman did no damage, and was allowed to fire again via his Ernst Barkman ability. The second hit was true and did 2 criticals resulting in an “injured crew” and “Bailed out” giving Desmond a free turn to kill the “fake” Barkman. The game lasted another 5 turns with some pretty quick twists of fate but the eventual outcome was as expected with Desmond winning with Barkman still alive.

The ability of ours to get people to learn and play the game so fast in a competitive setting speaks volumes about TANKS reach and appeal to people outside the gaming world.pan

It was a great show and we will be back again next year.

TANKS at the STGCC

Col. Clausewitz from Blitz and Peaces wrote an article about the TANK demos he ran at the STGCC. Looks like they had a blast showing off the game and teaching new players how to play.

US Desert Tanks

This week we take a closer look at the first wave of the American desert TANK releases, the Sherman (Early) and the Stuart. Both packs are adding cheap tank options to American platoons, as well as adding some cool new upgrades to the game.

Stuart

American platoons have never had access to a Fast tank until now. The Stuart is a small reliable tank that is fast and also has the new Cavalry rule.  This new rule gives the Stuart an extra Defense while within close range of an enemy tank. This bonus applies to any tank shooting at the Stuart and encourages an aggressive play-style for Stuart focused platoons.
The Daring Driver upgrade is awesome on the Stuart rewarding players for being bold and driving directly into danger! Gaining +1 Defense with Cavalry and being able to re-roll a Defense dice each time the Stuart is shot while in the open. This will help keep the Stuart in fighting shape.

British Grant Tank Expansion

Sherman (Early)

The US Sherman has evolved during the war, so far players have had access to the two late war Sherman tanks, the Sherman (75mm) and the Sherman (76mm).  The late war versions have a bit more Damage Capacity and Initiative, so they end up costing a bit more. In the Desert the early US Sherman tank has not had all the enhancements the late war variant have. So they are a lot cheaper point wise being a whole five point cheaper then the Sherman (75mm).

The Sherman Platoon upgrade is an interesting card, as it’s the first Dual Nation card in the game. British players need not worry as the card will show up in a future British release, but for now it can be obtained in the Sherman (Early) expansion. The card works with every Sherman variant in the game including the Firefly.  We wanted this card to reward players for building a Sherman focused platoons. The Initiative the upgrade gives you increases the more tanks you have in the list with the upgrade, so in a list with five Sherman (Early) tanks with this upgrade would give a +4 Initiative to each tank! This bonus does go down each time a tank with the upgrade is destroyed.

British Grant Tank Expansion

These two tanks will add some interesting choices to American platoon. The Sherman expansion comes with the Sherman platoon Doctrine upgrade card. A card that will really change up your already existing Sherman platoons as well as adding another cheaper Sherman to field with your mixed Sherman platoons.

The Stuart adds speed to the American platoons, Gung Ho and Fast is a powerful combo, as you give out one less Defense dice, this will help make up for your low Attack of three. Imagine adding Daring Driver and Bloodthirsty Gunner to a whole platoon of Stuarts.
